Seaview PTA Scrip Program  Policy Manual

What is “Scrip”?

Scrip is a program where you earn revenue for the PTA when you purchase prepaid gift cards that are used just like cash. You can use Scrip to purchase everyday expenses like food and clothing.  Seaview PTA Scrip program is able to purchase the gift cards at a discount, either locally or through our supplier, Great Lakes Scrip.  For example, if you purchase a $25 gift card for Starbucks, the profit, to the Seaview PTA, is 7% of the gift card amount or $1.75.  This may not seam like a lot, but the amounts add up!

Why fundraise with Scrip?

Scrip is a great fundraiser because it does not cost your family anything extra..  When you purchase a $100 Safeway card, you get $100 in Safeway groceries. Our families can produce PTA revenue by making regular household purchases they would make anyway such as groceries, clothing, toys, and gasoline.

What kinds of cards can I purchase through Scrip?

There is a large variety of retailers who participate in our Scrip program including Safeway, Albertsons, Starbucks, JCPenney, Home Depot, and Red Robin, to name a few.  Our order form lists many of the popular local retailers.  Seaview families are also able to go on the Great Lakes Scrip website  (glScrip.com) to view the full list of participating retailers.  There is an area on the order form to write in any of those retailers.

Do Scrip gift cards expire?

As of 2004, gift cards issued in the state of Washington are not permitted to have an expiration date, dormancy, inactivity and/or service charges except under certain situations.  Please see Washington State RCW 19.240 for more information.

How do I order from the Seaview Scrip program?

First, each Seaview family who wants to participate in our Scrip program will need to fill out a registration and waiver form.  These forms are available at the PTA table in Shark Hall and on our website (seaviewpta.weebly.com).  Once you have registered, you are able to place an order.  Order forms are also available in Shark Hall or on the Seaview PTA website.  Orders will be placed weekly on Monday morning.  All orders forms must be in by Monday at 8:00 am to be included in that week’s order.  Completed order forms with payment (made out to Seaview PTA) can be sent in with your student or turned in at the school office.  In addition a Scrip representative will be available on Monday and Friday Mornings in Shark Hall from 7:50am until 8:15am and Friday afternoons from 2:20pm until 2:40p.m. as a resource to you. Orders will ordinarily be ready for pick-up or sent home with your student (with a signed waiver) on Friday. Great Lake Scrip is very busy in November and December so orders during that time make take longer to process and ship.

When will my check be deposited?

Your check will be deposited Monday morning when the orders are placed.  Please do not “post date” your check.

Can I use a credit card to purchase from the Seaview Scrip program?

At this time we cannot accept credit cards for orders.

How will I get my Scrip order?

Scrip cards can come to you in two ways. Please designate on your registration form how you would like to receive your Scrip order. Scrip orders will be available for pick-up on Friday mornings in Shark Hall.  A Scrip representative will be available Friday mornings in Shark hall from 7:45am until 8:30am and Friday afternoons from 2:15pm until 2:45pm. You may also choose to have your Scrip order sent home with your student.  You must sign a waiver form in order for your Scrip order to be sent home this way. Seaview PTA accepts no responsibility for Scrip cards that are delivered in this manner.

What if I ordered the wrong gift card?

Scrip gift cards ordered on your behalf are not returnable.

What if I loose my gift card?

Scrip cards are the same as cash and should be handled accordingly.  Seaview PTA is not responsible for Scrip cards that are lost, stolen or misplaced.

Do Scrip cards make good gifts?

YES! With hundreds of participating retailers, you are sure to find a card for anyone on your list.  They make great holiday, birthday or appreciation gifts.
